Elegant and finessed, stony and mineral, this is an outstanding Grand Cru. There’s elegance here, and a warm, baked earth character. There’s real density, but also a freshness and poise. Lovely.

The 2018 Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru has turned out beautifully, unwinding to reveal aromas of cherries, cassis and dark berries, mingled with hints of black truffle, dark chocolate and forest floor. Full-bodied, muscular and concentrated, with ample reserves of ripe, powdery tannins, lively acids and a long, sapid finish. Like all of the domaine's 2018s, this will require some patience, but it's very promising.
