2017 Aloxe-Corton, Les Valozieres, Gérard Julien et Fils

Aloxe-Corton may not be typically highly prized, but in the hands of winemakers like Etienne the results can be impressive - and good value. This is dark and rich, with a hint of herbal lift, and lovely, refined tannins on the finish.

Domaine Gérard Julien & Fils

The town of Comblanchien is yet to attract more attention for fine wine than for its quarries, but that’s about to change. And it’s thanks to Etienne Julien. We discovered this brilliant young winemaker (his first vintage was 2012) thanks to a tip-off from his friend and fellow rising star Maxime Cheurlin of Domaine Georges Noëllat. We can only recommend you start buying his wines now before word is truly out. Joyful, energetic and vivacious, these Pinot Noirs are a true hedonist’s delight.
