2015 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru 'Mont des Oiseaux', Domaine de l'Arlot

For the first time, the cuvée made from the Clos de l’Arlot’s young vines has been classified as a premier cru. Tasting this, it’s clear to see why. There’s concentration of fruit alongside zingy acidity, excellent energy, and a touch of floral complexity. It’s undoubtedly premier cru quality.

2015 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru 'Mont des Oiseaux', Domaine de l'Arlot

The 2015 Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru Mont des Oiseaux is the same vineyard as the Petit Arlot, which is to say that it still comes from the younger vines in Clos de l'Arlot. At the time of my visit, the domaine was verifying with the authorities if they could use the name. This was completely de-stemmed. It has a crisp, well-defined, red cherry and crushed strawberry bouquet with touches of cold limestone. The palate is fresh and crisp on the entry with a grainy texture, bright red berry fruit, quite elegant in style with a harmonious and slightly saline finish. This should give plenty of drinking pleasure over the next decade.

Domaine de l'Arlot

2015 marked the first vintage that the charming winemaker Géraldine Godot has worked alone at the domaine, and it immediately offered a sense of her stark talent and lightness of touch. From their excellent range of vineyards, with monopoles including Clos de l’Arlot and Clos des Forêts St-Georges, Domaine de l’Arlot creates the most elegant, refined and classy Nuits St-Georges imaginable.
