2015 Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru Aux Boudots, Méo-Camuzet

The mix of the vineyard that borders Malconsorts, and a top Vosne grower, is a very happy one. This is already open and delicious, with outstanding energy and pitch-perfect tannins that coat the palate. This wine is limited to one case per customer. 2015 Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru Aux Boudots, Méo-Camuzet

The 2015 Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru Les Boudots includes 15% whole bunch this year and finished its malolactic earlier according to Jean-Nicolas Méo. It has a more lush and open bouquet than the Nuits St Georges Les Murgers with patisserie scents infusing the rounded, red berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannin, quite fresh and tensile with hints of sorbet orange and white pepper towards the rather strict finish. I prefer the aromatics to the palate just at this moment, but they should even out by the time of bottling.

Domaine Méo-Camuzet

The link with Henri Jayer continues to define, if not overshadow, this estate, which makes outstanding wines completely in its own right. Jean-Nicolas Méo took control in 1989, and the wines have rightfully developed a reputation for being polished, opulent and voluptuous, with wonderful intensity to the fruit. With fourteen hectares in some of the most prestigious parts of the Côte de Nuits, Méo-Camuzet also has a thriving negotiant business.
