2015 Beaune 1er Cru Grèves, Domaine de Montille

Probably the finest Beaune vineyard, in the 19th century it was seen as a Tête de Cuvée, the top level of the côte’s wines. This is very expressive, with cut flowers, cinnamon spice, red fruit and crushed rocks. A velveteen texture leads onto a long and defined finish.

Domaine de Montille

Charismatic Etienne de Montille has stewarded the family domaine since taking responsibility in 1995. With an enviable selection of vineyards, careful winemaking with the use of whole bunch altered to suit the vintage, and sensitive élévage, it’s no surprise that this estate continues to rise towards the top. With a cellar overseen by the talented, affable American Brian Sieve and his own son joining the family business, Etienne is doing all the right things to ensure the wines thrive.
