2014 Marsannay, Marchand-Tawse

Pretty and floral with sappy red fruit and crunchy acidity. Open and attractively forward, with svelte tannins and a subtle hint of spice derivedfrom élévage in 15% new oak. A real insider’s tip, Marsannay is an oft-forgotten village at the northern end of the Côte de Nuits and this particular example offers a lot of bang for your buck.

2014 Marsannay, Marchand-Tawse
Domaine Marchand-Tawse

Domaine Tawse is the part of the Marchand-Tawse stable that owns vineyards, including the Gevrey-Chambertin based Domaine Maume, purchased in 2013. Englishman Mark Fincham is responsible for these wines, including beautiful holdings of Mazis-Chambertin, and the wines here improve every year, including low-sulphur bottlings, and wines that demonstrate the array of Burgundy’s terroirs.
