2014 Chambolle Musigny, Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux

The berries used in this village Chambolle come from five separate parcels. A little muted on the nose at this stage but there was plenty on show when tasting, deeply rich and focussed with a wonderful purity of fruit. The tannins are there but are so well integrated they are lost within silky layers of texture. This is an excellent expression of Chambolle-Musigny.

2014 Chambolle Musigny, Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux
Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux

There are numerous examples of Burgundy domaines where the handover between generations has proven something of an upheaval. Fortunately Arnoux-Lachaux bucks the trend, with father Pascal and son Charles working closely together. They approach vineyard management using organic growing methods, and just as fastidiously in the winery. With Pascal’s influence, they represent the most rapid change in style of any Burgundy domaine, and the wines are now quite pure and elegant, with depth of flavour.
