2014 Volnay 1er Cru Les Angles, Louis Boillot

An open, vibrant almost showy nose of strawberry conserve and spicy, floral notes. The palate is silky and classical with great depth of flavour and integration. This is very fine Volnay from this little seen but wonderfully placed vineyard.

Domaine Louis Boillot

Louis Boillot previously worked at family domaine Lucien Boillot in Gevrey, though the family was initially based in Volnay, hence they also have wines from this commune. Louis himself relocated to Chambolle in 2003 where his wife, Ghislaine Barthod, is based, and they share the same vineyard team. From several notable appellations, Louis crafts wines that are united in their commitment to terroir. He also has an impressive concern further south in Moulin-à-Vent, making Pinot-like Beaujolais.
