2012 Pommard Les Cras, Domaine de Montille
This Villages Pommard is crafted from fruit exclusively grown in the superior lieu-dit of Les Cras (after the old French word for chalk), which appropriately produces wines with excellent minerality, a quality preserved here by the use of absolutely no new oak. This example is soft-textured , with a lovely richness of fruit at its core, framed beautifully by firm yet melded and seductively fruit-coated tannins. This is very approachable and would rival many producers’ 1er Crus.
