2012 Beaune 1er Cru Grèves, Domaine de Montille

A little more expressive and floral on the nose that its Sizies cousin, this is quite serious, with its core of juicy red cherries and complex notes of mushrooms, graphite and a mineral finish. Two thirds of whole bunches are used and 25% new oak bring respectively lifted aromas and a more generous mid-palate texture.

Domaine de Montille

Charismatic Etienne de Montille has stewarded the family domaine since taking responsibility in 1995. With an enviable selection of vineyards, careful winemaking with the use of whole bunch altered to suit the vintage, and sensitive élévage, it’s no surprise that this estate continues to rise towards the top. With a cellar overseen by the talented, affable American Brian Sieve and his own son joining the family business, Etienne is doing all the right things to ensure the wines thrive.
