2012 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes, Humbert Frères

Perfumed, pretty and precise. Dark fruits folded into layers with black pepper, liquorice and a wonderful integration of acidity.A little dark chocolate note on the finish and an awareness of 35%new oak. Excellent.

2012 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes, Humbert Frères
Domaine Humbert Frères

Ten years ago, the Humbert brothers swapped roles with Manou moving into the winery and Frédéric into the vineyard, and they haven’t looked back since. A larger than life, rugby-playing winemaker, Manou draws out clear definition in his wines. There is noticeable clarity between the brothers’ many terroirs in Fixin and Gevrey-Chambertin, impressive precision indeed.
