2012 Vosne-Romanée, Domaine Michel Gros

More refined on the palate than the nose suggests, the rich bramble fruit and violet note are balanced by the fine tannins and bright freshness on the mid-palate. The three parcels are blended and aged in oak, a third of it in new barrels.

2012 Vosne-Romanée, Domaine Michel Gros
Domaine Michel Gros

Best known for his monopole Clos des Réas, a vineyard that produces a wine of supreme elegance, this remarkable plot has been in the family since 1860. Michel Gros has been at the head of the family domaine that now bears his name since 1975. A rather more recent addition was his tiny parcel of Grand Cru Clos de Vougeot, bought by Michel’s father for his son’s twelfth birthday, although he’s adamant he would have preferred a bike!
