2012 Chambertin Clos de Bèze Grand Cru, Bastion de l'Oratoire Chanson
From one of the most prestigious Grand Cru sites in Burgundy, this is a real star in their range. Darkly fragrant on the nose, with notes of damson, bramble and an almost-tapenade quality. The palate is immediately refreshing, with a vein of bright acidity darting through a core of rich, ripe fruit. Highly attractive, and built for the long haul, with firm tannins carrying through to the finish.
