2011 La Grande Rue Grand Cru Monopole, Domaine François Lamarche

2011 La Grande Rue Grand Cru Monopole, Domaine François Lamarche

The jewel in the Domaine Lamarche crown, La Grande Rue is sandwiched between La Tâche and La Romanée Conti and is about as good as terroir gets. True to its class, this is the most complete and profound wine in the Lamarche line-up. It possesses the elegance and ethereal quality of Echézeaux, but with more weight, depth and length. Dark and backward at present, yet you can see the potential. Though the palate is rich with dark fruit, it is incredibly fresh and precise. The texture is quite frankly sensational, utterly mouth coating and with almost imperceptible tannins. This is a totally harmonious and truly wonderful wine.
