2011 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Clos des Réas, Michel Gros

Considered the flagship wine of Michel Gros, this two hectare monopole vineyard is the most important in the domaine’s holdings. A concentrated core of ripe black cherries, nutmeg and clove encased in a frame of toasty oak supported by silky tannins and a dart of fresh acidity that carries the wine effortlessly onto a long, seamless finish.

2011 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Clos des Réas, Michel Gros
Domaine Michel Gros

Best known for his monopole Clos des Réas, a vineyard that produces a wine of supreme elegance, this remarkable plot has been in the family since 1860. Michel Gros has been at the head of the family domaine that now bears his name since 1975. A rather more recent addition was his tiny parcel of Grand Cru Clos de Vougeot, bought by Michel’s father for his son’s twelfth birthday, although he’s adamant he would have preferred a bike!
