2011 Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru, Domaine Michel Gros

Originating from two separate 1er Cru sites, Murgers and Les Vignerondes, the nose is a little shy but the palate explodes with ripe black cherry fruit, wood smoke, and exotic spice. Upfront in style, richly structured and immediately appealing this will undoubtedly become even more so over the coming years.

2011 Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru, Domaine Michel Gros
Domaine Michel Gros

Best known for his monopole Clos des Réas, a vineyard that produces a wine of supreme elegance, this remarkable plot has been in the family since 1860. Michel Gros has been at the head of the family domaine that now bears his name since 1975. A rather more recent addition was his tiny parcel of Grand Cru Clos de Vougeot, bought by Michel’s father for his son’s twelfth birthday, although he’s adamant he would have preferred a bike!
