2011 Savigny-Lès-Beaune 1er Cru Les Lavières, Chandon de Briailles

A southerly exposure combined with 55 year old vines and a position higher up the slope means the 2.5 hectares owned by the domaine yields a wine of incredible concentration and finesse. A floral nose of wild violets suffuses a palate redolent of summer fruit pudding, rounded out on a mineral inflected finish.

2011 Savigny-Lès-Beaune 1er Cru Les Lavières, Chandon de Briailles
Domaine Chandon de Briailles

This beautiful house constructed between 1690 and 1705 has been home to the de Nicolay family since 1834. Current incumbent Claude, frequently flanked by her lovely dogs (one adorably called Darling!), creates elegant wines from appellations sometimes known for their more bucolic styles. Farmed biodynamically since 2005, this is a set of wines that punch well above their weight.
