While better known for his whites, Jean-Marc's red Chassagne is a tour-de-force of winemaking and a considerable cut-above many Côte-de-Beaune reds. Intensely spicy red fruit notes are immediately evident on the nose, which is open and appealing. On the palate, this shows lovely sappy, ripe fruit and exceptionally fine tannins. Jean-Marc describes it as having "beaucoup de finesse" and certainly it seems a seamless style, carrying its weight and density apparently effortlessly.
