2010 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru, Georges Mugneret-Gibourg
Made from the young vine fruit from the Grand Cru vineyard of Ruchottes-Chambertin, this is a considerable cut above the average Gevrey. Darkly appealing on the nose, with an immediate sense of sweet, ripe fruit and an equally immediate sense of almost mint-like freshness. The palate is almost delicate, with a very refined structure and immense purity, yet with a concentrated core of fruit at its heart. Excellent.
