2010 Corton Grand Cru Clos du Roi, Chandon de Briailles

2010 Corton Grand Cru Clos du Roi, Chandon de Briailles

Situated at the top of the Hill of Corton, this is the undoubted star of Corton. Produced from vines with a minimum age of 60 years and at under 20 hectolitres per hectare, this is a wine of concentration, complexity and immense class. The nose is reminiscent of a top Vosne-Romanée, rich and intensely-scented, but with a beautiful freshness and floral nature. Full-bodied, voluptuous and concentrated, there is so much going on. Rich strawberry and loganberry flavors are wrapped up in velvety tannins, to give the most sumptuous of palates. Though there is great concentration, there is plenty of acidity to keep things fresh and harmonious. Minimum intervention and use of oak has produced a wine of such purity and energy, which very much sums up the style of Chandon de Briailles.
