2010 Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru, Domaine Michel Gros

Drawn from two parcels of 1er Cru vines, Murgers and Les Vignerondes. Brambly fruit notes are evident on both the nose and the palate, giving this perhaps a more rustic nature than some, but the fragrant nature and concentration make it an appealing and attractive wine nonetheless. Long on the finish, with dark fruit notes and hints of spice and white flowers.

2010 Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru, Domaine Michel Gros
Domaine Michel Gros

Best known for his monopole Clos des Réas, a vineyard that produces a wine of supreme elegance, this remarkable plot has been in the family since 1860. Michel Gros has been at the head of the family domaine that now bears his name since 1975. A rather more recent addition was his tiny parcel of Grand Cru Clos de Vougeot, bought by Michel’s father for his son’s twelfth birthday, although he’s adamant he would have preferred a bike!
