2010 Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru, Georges Mugneret-Gibourg
Boldly and darkly fragrant on the nose, with black berry notes that continue onto the palate. There is great concentration here and spicy, mineral complexity, derived from the deeper roots of the very old vines. The tannins are more evident here than in many of the other wines from the domaine, but they are balanced by the expressive nature of the fruit and the exquisite vein of freshness than runs throughout. With a long and attractive finish, this is a tour de force of Grand Cru Burgundy.
