2009 Chambertin Grand Cru, Armand Rousseau
An incredibly pure nose of violets, bramble fruit, lavender and earthy notes. Whilst aromatic and open, the nose is also very serious and brooding. Densely packed with dark fruit, herbs and mineral character, the palate is coated with satin-like tannins. There is a freshness and almost-saline quality that provides perfect counterpoint to the richness of fruit, leaving a harmonious and impossible complex finish.
