2009 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Brulées, Domaine Michel Gros

The Brulées vineyard almost touches Richebourg, lending a more masculine nature than is typical of all Vosne. Dark fruit on the nose, which is carried through onto the palate. Tannins are robust, but almost silky in nature, and there is a touch of minerality here. Not as pretty as some of his other wines, but truly excellent.

2009 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Brulées, Domaine Michel Gros
Domaine Michel Gros

Best known for his monopole Clos des Réas, a vineyard that produces a wine of supreme elegance, this remarkable plot has been in the family since 1860. Michel Gros has been at the head of the family domaine that now bears his name since 1975. A rather more recent addition was his tiny parcel of Grand Cru Clos de Vougeot, bought by Michel’s father for his son’s twelfth birthday, although he’s adamant he would have preferred a bike!
