2008 Volnay 1er Cru Les Brouillards, Louis Boillot

Another old vine (60 years) cuvée with terrific concentration and depth coupled with real elegance. Fresh raspberry and mint on the nose with a spicy almost liquorice note, with thick texture and grainy tannic structure. This has been made with great attention to detail. Classic Volnay for the cellar.

Domaine Louis Boillot

Louis Boillot previously worked at family domaine Lucien Boillot in Gevrey, though the family was initially based in Volnay, hence they also have wines from this commune. Louis himself relocated to Chambolle in 2003 where his wife, Ghislaine Barthod, is based, and they share the same vineyard team. From several notable appellations, Louis crafts wines that are united in their commitment to terroir. He also has an impressive concern further south in Moulin-à-Vent, making Pinot-like Beaujolais.
