2008 Volnay 1er Cru Les Taillepieds, Domaine de Montille

A fantastic vineyard, whose name apparently comes from the small stones, which used to cut vineyard workers feet. They received some hail in 2008 which drastically reduced yields. This has a very mineral style with beefier tannins than the Mitans. Precise, pure and serious Volnay that will need time.

Domaine de Montille

Charismatic Etienne de Montille has stewarded the family domaine since taking responsibility in 1995. With an enviable selection of vineyards, careful winemaking with the use of whole bunch altered to suit the vintage, and sensitive élévage, it’s no surprise that this estate continues to rise towards the top. With a cellar overseen by the talented, affable American Brian Sieve and his own son joining the family business, Etienne is doing all the right things to ensure the wines thrive.
