2006 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Estournelles-St-Jacques, Humbert Frères

Much more fruit evident on the nose here, with equally marked violet-like notes. There is an unforced richness on the palate, as well as a seamless texture, which is not without density. Mineral, long and flowing on the finish, this is remarkably harmonious and the most expansive of the Humbert premiers crus. Very fine.

2006 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Estournelles-St-Jacques, Humbert Frères
Domaine Humbert Frères

Ten years ago, the Humbert brothers swapped roles with Manou moving into the winery and Frédéric into the vineyard, and they haven’t looked back since. A larger than life, rugby-playing winemaker, Manou draws out clear definition in his wines. There is noticeable clarity between the brothers’ many terroirs in Fixin and Gevrey-Chambertin, impressive precision indeed.
