2005 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Poissenots, Humbert Frères

More reserved aromatically, though there is abundant fruit on the palate.
Laden with dark berry fruit, glossy in texture and undeniably mineral. Focused
and finely-tuned with a discreet earthy, chalky complexity. There is a more
masculine note to the tannins, in contrast to Craipillot’s charm. This refuses to
fade and is long and persistent.

2005 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Poissenots, Humbert Frères
Domaine Humbert Frères

Ten years ago, the Humbert brothers swapped roles with Manou moving into the winery and Frédéric into the vineyard, and they haven’t looked back since. A larger than life, rugby-playing winemaker, Manou draws out clear definition in his wines. There is noticeable clarity between the brothers’ many terroirs in Fixin and Gevrey-Chambertin, impressive precision indeed.
