2002 Corton-Bressandes Grand Cru, Chandon de Briailles

A great côte de beaune; the initial impact is of spices and wild berry fruits; what follows is intense and concentrated, with an unctuous volume of fruit and a long complex finish. Exciting quality.

2002 Corton-Bressandes Grand Cru, Chandon de Briailles
Domaine Chandon de Briailles

This beautiful house constructed between 1690 and 1705 has been home to the de Nicolay family since 1834. Current incumbent Claude, frequently flanked by her lovely dogs (one adorably called Darling!), creates elegant wines from appellations sometimes known for their more bucolic styles. Farmed biodynamically since 2005, this is a set of wines that punch well above their weight.
