1995 Château d'Yquem, 1er Grand Cru Classé Sauternes

1995 Château d'Yquem, 1er Grand Cru Classé Sauternes

Hints of honeysuckle, orange marmalade, vanilla beans and toasty oak are present in the moderately intense aromatics. In the mouth the wine is medium to full-bodied, with good acidity, a somewhat monolithic character at present, but a long, concentrated, relatively sweet finish, with good acidity. Last tasted 12/02
Score: 93, Robert Parker, Bordeaux Book (4), December 2003

Tasted at the chateau. O.K. - I think this is better than the 1990! Intense hue. Brilliant expressive apricot/orangey nose with tonnes of botrytis. Unctuous and fat. Slightly lower in acidity than other vintages. Very concentrated with an incredibly intense finish. Tasted July 2001.

Score: 97-99
