With d’Yquem as a neighbour there’s always the danger of being caught in their shadow, not so at Suduiraut who, under the ownership of AXA Millesimes and guidance of charismatic Christian Seely, have gone from strength to strength in recent years. This is a full throttle Semillon dominant blend, with plenty of beeswax and honey botrytis character alongside citrus zest, lemon curd and candied pineapple on a richly textured palate with well integrated oak and superbly poised acidity on the long finish. The favourite wine of none other than ex-Genesis drummer Phil Collins. The diminutive AOR rocker always has a half bottle on ice whilst on tour.
