2010 Château Doisy-Védrines, Cru Classé Barsac

2010 Château Doisy-Védrines, Cru Classé Barsac

A stunning colour of pale straw yellow in the glass, with vivid green highlights.
The bouquet is exotic with pineapple, zingy lime and grapefruit. The palate is full, rich, round and fat, with ripe pineapple and lime, combined with luscious honey notes and even a hint of white chocolate. Wonderful acidity balances this truly spectacular example from Barsac.

Château Doisy-Védrines

Second Growth Doisy-Védrines was once part of a larger estate which was split into three, with Doisy-Vérdines taking the majority of the land and the 16th century château. Now, it is one of the leading estates in Barsac and its 35 hectares have been owned by the Castéja family - who also own Beau-Site and Lynch Moussas - since 1851, passing through their descendants to Olivier Castéja who is in charge today. The vineyard is predominantly Sémillon, with the remainder being Sauvignon Blanc and Sauvignon Gris and a miniscule amount of Muscadelle. It lies on an elevated plateau in Barsac and is credited with producing tiny quantities of lusciously sweet yet impeccably balanced Sauternes.
