2002 Château d'Yquem, 1er Grand Cru Classé Sauternes

This 2002 is an elegant vintage. It is very typical of its appellation, with beautiful, pure hints of candied fruit and a pale golden colour that possesses an intense, fresh, floral, honeyed, inviting nose. Its marked refinement enchants the palate with rich, creamy vanilla laden spicy fruit and alluring freshness.

2002 Château d'Yquem, 1er Grand Cru Classé Sauternes
Château d'Yquem

Château d’Yquem is generally considered the world’s greatest sweet wine. It defines its appellation, Sauternes, to the extent that it stands alone as the only “1er Cru Classé Supérieur” in Bordeaux. The Grand Vin is a blend of Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc affected by botrytis, known as noble rot. It ages for decades and is renowned for its elegance and complexity. This is now complemented by a fine dry white, Y d’Yquem, more than a match for the great wines of Graves.
