Tasting notes

Beautifullly poised plummy colour, clear glass-staining and vibrant edging. Rich texture visually but this provides an attractive contrast on the palate, with some excellent levels of freshness and even austerity at this stage. Touch of damson puree, crab apple even, pretty high acidity on the close of play. This is a 31ha property, harvest September 19 to October 5. Good value.

93/100

The 2022 Château Peymouton is based on 89% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 1% Cabernet Sauvignon. This inky-hued beauty may be the best to date and has a gorgeous nose of pure black raspberries, cassis, spring flowers, and graphite, with a touch of background minerality. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated, pure, and incredibly elegant, it shines for its purity, balance, and length.

Jeb Dunnuck, jebdunnuck.com (May 2023)
91—93/100

The 2022 Peymouton exhibits aromas of rich berries, cherries and plums, followed by a medium to full-bodied, sweet and fleshy palate with a ripe core of somewhat jammy fruit that's framed by powdery tannins.

William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Issue #266 (April 2023)
(87—90)/100

A medium-bodied red with velvety tannins and a spiced, chocolatey finish with hints of nut shell and dried flowers. Dry and chalky. 82% merlot, 10% cabernet franc and 8% cabernet sauvignon.

James Suckling, jamessuckling.com (April 2023)
92—93/100

The 2022 Peymouton is soft, supple and charming, all of which make it a fine choice for drinking over the near and medium term. A burst of red/purplish fruit, rose petal, cinnamon and mocha races across the palate as this open-knit Saint-Émilion shows off its seductive personality.
