2017 Château Kirwan, Cru Classé Margaux

2017 Château Kirwan, Cru Classé Margaux

This Kirwan is deep and ripe, certainly not lacking intensity! There's nice fruit and fine tannins with very good tension on the palate. The structure is excellent - really well put together.

Château Kirwan

The charming wines of Third Growth Château Kirwan were started in 1760, when Irishman Mark Kirwan married the daughter of a prominent Bordeaux négociant. He took over the estate and named it after himself. His wines gained a strong following over the years, enjoying famous connections including Thomas Jefferson in 1780 who was ‘impressed’ with Château Kirwan, and Queen Margrethe II of Denmark who has given her royal patronage to the estate since 1986. The Schÿler family have owned Kirwan since 1925, and today 8th generation siblings Sophie, Nathalie and Yann run the estate with the help of consultant Éric Boissenot. Thanks to their efforts Château Kirwan is once again on the rise. They have worked hard: improving their 37 hectares of vineyards, hand-picking and vinifying each parcel separately and investing heavily in their facilities to create a visually stunning state-of-the-art winery.
