2016 L'Etoile, François et Guillaume Thienpont, Lalande-de-Pomerol

2016 L'Etoile, François et Guillaume Thienpont, Lalande-de-Pomerol

Lalande-de-Pomerol is often accused of producing slightly rustic wines, but this 2016 L’Etoile from Guillaume and Francois Thienpont is anything but. Guillaume is better known for crafting brilliant wines at Vieux Chateau Certain and Le Pin, and in Lalande the team have created a beautifully balanced and finessed wine with plenty of potential for ageing. Perfectly ripe black fruit and just enough crunchy red fruit creating freshness. The tannins are fine and there is a lovely velvet texture. A truly stunning wine that would not look out of place in a more illustrious appellation.

Tasting notes

A dense and four-square red with dark-berry, chocolate and walnut character. Medium to full body and juicy tannins.
