2016 has the unique distinction of being a sort of collaboration between two great Bordeaux winemaking families. The vintage was harvested by the Borie family of Grand-Puy-Lacoste, who were the previous owners of Haut-Batailley before it was purchased by the Cazes family of Lynch Bages who completed the elevage. It was never released en primeur. It's quintessential Left Bank claret, with a loose, medium-bodied style, savoury graphite notes and precise black berry fruit. Classically fine, delineated tannins and plenty of fresh acidity. Appetising and impressive.
