The Grand Vin is one of the candidates for “Wine of the Vintage”, and as such La Dame de Montrose, may well be one of the shrewdest choices in the entire Médoc. Perfumed, quite floral for a St Estèphe in a vintage with such good Cabernet ripeness, it shows excellent concentration on the nose and the palate, but the blackcurrant fruit at the core of this wine is freshened up by notes of juicy red berries and spicy, savoury elements. Pretty yet showing a firm structure with a long finish, it is excellent.
