2014 Château Figeac, 1er Grand Cru Classé St-Emilion

2014 Château Figeac, 1er Grand Cru Classé St-Emilion

Frédéric Faye described 2014 as a cool fruit vintage with the tannic ripeness of a hot one, and went on to describe their Cabernet Franc as “amazing”. A blend of 40% Merlot, 28% Cabernet Franc and 32% Cabernet Sauvignon (the latter uncommon in St Emilion, but which also benefitted from the Indian summer). This is a tremendous Figeac of density and volume with the aromatic quality of the Cabernet Franc shining through a really pure core of fruit. It is very well pitched and perfectly weighted – a harmony of fragrance, fruit and ultra-fine tannin.
