Montrose has produced a potentially great wine from this vintage, based on the showing of this barrel sample. The nose is beautifully expressive and fragrant with black fruits, a touch of fig and liquorice. The palate is perfectly tensioned between a deep multi-layered texture, freshness and a super fine tannic structure. It is precise, fine and elegant. It leaves the impression of possessing an extra dimension. This recalls the best vintages from this estate. Time will tell.
