Some of the finest wines of the vintage came from Pauillac, and this was one of the best we tasted. Lynch-Bages consistently over-performs and unsurprisingly has a loyal following. The 2014 is deep and brooding with notes of cassis and camphor, there’s impressive textural weight on the palate with tannins that envelope every corner of the mouth. With such precision and focus, this is a superb example of the controlled power of Pauillac – a twin-turbo V12 hums gently beneath the exquisitely detailed exterior.
