2013 Château La Mission Haut-Brion, Cru Classé Pessac-Léognan

2013 Château La Mission Haut-Brion, Cru Classé Pessac-Léognan

This year the grand vin represents just 29% of production – just over 3000 cases were produced. With a shorter maceration and lower than usual proportion of new oak employed to allow the delicately nuanced fruit to shine. Coffee bean, vanilla and plum notes intermingle with tobacco and cedar on the nose, the palate opens on delicious redcurrant and ripe summer berries which give way to a darker fruit profile supported by creamy vanilla oak, coffee and chocolate. Ripe tannins coat the mouth on a long savoury finish.
