2011 Château Canon, 1er Grand Cru Classé St-Emilion

Owned and managed by Chanel, Château Canon has been going from strength over recent vinteages and is one of the success stories of 2011. Expressive and perfumed on the nose, with bramble fruit, lavender and toasty notes of cedar in the background. Deep, rich and opulent, with a mouthfilling soft velvet texture. Blueberries, blackcurrants and a very pure minerality, the minerality coming from the limestone soils which contain fossilized starfish! There are Intense tannins but these are balanced with the purity of the acidity running through.
