2009 Château Montrose, Cru Classé St-Estèphe

2009 Château Montrose, Cru Classé St-Estèphe

With a reputation for blockbuster wines, Montrose could have easily been overblown this year. Not so! It is completely opaque, dark purple, very ripe on the nose and with high extract. With a lovely balancing acidity, it isn’t that massive after all – in fact it’s rather elegant. Made from 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 29% Merlot.

Robert Parker: 96-100 points (Wine Advocate 188)
