Over the last quarter of a century Las Cases has inexorably become so linked to the First Growth properties it can now genuinely stand comparison with them. It now is one of the last properties to be released each vintage and in the famed 2005 vintage it actually surpassed all the ratings of the First growths. It is, without doubt, the most super of all the “super seconds” Deep and opaque in colour with a purple/black core. Creamy vanillin notes on the nose give way to tightly wound concentrated ripe blackcurrant fruit. Supple and rounded, with a fruit-laden attack, this is complex and mineral with long, fine acidity and well-managed tannic structure on the finish.
