Such was the rigorous selection by Alexandre Thienpont this year that volume is down by a massive 1,200 dozen, which is dreadful news for the large number of avid followers of Vieux Château Certan, one of Pomerol’s most reliable estates. The 2006 vintage is a harmonious wine with wonderful intensity and beautifully pure, vibrant fruit.
