The second wine of Lynch-Bages shows in a different vein to the 2004, which encompassed an unusually high proportion of Merlot. Here we return to Cabernet-dominant form, in fact accounting for 57% of the blend, alongside 26% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc. No new oak is employed in the elevage of this wine – solely barrels that have been used for the grand vin in one previous vintage. Showing a good rich colour in the glass, the primary aromas are of succulent, ripe blackcurrant and vibrant stone-fruit. The palate shows a fresh nature, with appealing, accessible fruit. There is a pleasing vibrant touch, like freshly-crushed berry fruit. This is much more in the red fruit spectrum despite the proportion of Cabernet.
