Originally a convent, the estate has been owned by Domaines Cordier since 1919. This is an often-overlooked château but a source of solid, reliable wine which has excelled in 2005. The 50 hectare vineyards lie just to the north of Château Montrose and are planted predominantly with Cabernet Sauvignon with 24% Merlot and a small amount of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The wine shows attractive black fruits with an overlay of vanilla oak and a meaty, savoury finish. A good Sunday lunch wine!
