2005 Château Durfort-Vivens, Cru Classé Margaux

2005 Château Durfort-Vivens, Cru Classé Margaux

Gonzague Lurton's Chateau Durfort-Vivens is never a wine to hit the headlines for achieving high scores in comparative tastings. However we have found over the years that Durfort is a wine that displays gentle, floral, fruit in a natural, unforced style. Whilst not a wine renowned for power or grip, Durfort has the proven ability to age successfully and to develop attractive, supple nuances that we expect of wines from the Margaux commune. A respected negociant advised us this morning that he tasted a range of vintages at the chateau a few weeks ago and that the wines impressed him for their harmony and poise. A mid-weight Bordeaux, 2005 Durfort reveals vibrancy, lusciousness and pure, fresh fruit.
