The general view among professional tasters is that Chateau Ducru-Beaucaillou is one of the greatest wines of the 2005 Medoc vintage. The property's second wine, La Croix de Beaucaillou, may not have the multi-faceted beauty of the exceptional grand vin but it is a really delicious Saint-Julien worthy of a place in any cellar. In years only marginally less fabulous than 2005, La Croix would pass muster as a Saint-Julien of cru classe status - and at a high level! La Croix displays a stunningly fragrant perfume whilst the palate reveals density and volume in support of sumptuous, ripe fruit. Broad and stylish, seductive and lithe with impressive grip. Polished and in perfect harmony.
